Amazon and Mattel Global Consumer Support listings suggest Mater and Francesco Bernoulli may have originally been planned in place of Snot Rod and Max Schnell, respectively.^[1]^[2] The vehicle proportions required to pull off the wheelie functionality may have influenced the designers' choice of characters.
