Oversized
The Oversized assortment of basic Mattel Disney Pixar Cars vehicles was a brief introduction to the "deluxe" model concept, which would become a modern staple of the toy line. A product of conversations between designer Martin Arriola and Pixar creative chief John Lasseter about staying true to the scale of the Cars franchise, the "deluxe" vehicle assortment featured larger characters that otherwise could not reasonably fit within singles packaging. The previously released Al Oft the Lightyear Blimp and Dinoco Helicopter models were re-designed closer to their actual in-universe relative sizes, with their previous molds being discontinued.
The initial wave of six vehicles released in 2008 at the tail end of the World of Cars Series, and sported a unique packaging motif based on the Los Angeles International Speedway from the film. Similarly to the Walmart Cars, a stylized jumbotron included a screenshot of the character, atop a larger-than-normal plastic blister – they were also assigned collector numbers in their own set, apart from the mainline singles' also introduced that year.

Future
After its single-wave introduction, the soon-released 2009 Collector Guide revealed that the Oversized characters would become part of that year's mainline, re-branded as "Mega Size" and featured in their own eponymous segment series.
"Deluxe" vehicles remained part of the core Mainline up until being dropped in 2023.
