Grem is a major antagonist in Pixar’s 12th full-length animated feature film Cars 2.
He is a member of the Gremlin crime family and one of Professor Zündapp's main henchmen.
History
Cars 2
Grem first appears at the oil rig along with many other Lemons as they begin to unload several crates at the loading dock. As soon as Professor Z arrives, Grem and Acer show him the remains of Leland Turbo, who had been found by the two Lemons and crushed into a cube. Grem and Acer are also the ones who ride on the two allied combat ships that work for the Lemons as they try to kill Finn McMissile after he's spotted by the Professor. Later in Tokyo, he and Acer are at the World Grand Prix welcome party and they both find Rod "Torque" Redline in the bathroom. And together, they fight with him and end up taking him back to the Professor, as he stands by watching as the American spy's engine bursts into flames after being forced to be fueled with Allinol and having Professor Z's EMP weapon aimed at him. Later, Grem and Acer chase Mater and Finn McMissile at the airport. Grem and Acer are also the ones who use the weapon during all races. During the last race, they tease Mater for not being able to save Lightning McQueen as they fire the weapon at him. But fortunately, it doesn't work. He and Acer are then beaten up by the customers of the "Ye Left Turn Inn" pub after they are thrown into said pub by Holley Shiftwell and end up spilling everyone's drinks. It is unknown what happened to Grem afterwards but he was possibly arrested alongside Acer following Professor Z and Miles Axlerod's arrests.
Cars 2: The Video Game
In Cars 2: The Video Game, Grem is an unlockable playable character, available once access to Clearance Level 3 is granted. He is a lightweight, and consists of more speed than power.
Cars 2: The Video Game (DS/3DS)
In Cars 2: The Video Game (DS/3DS), Grem also appears as an unlockable playable character in the game’s C.H.R.O.M.E mode, however his unlocking criteria is different depending on which device is used. On the DS, he is unlocked by entering “648290” on the Spy Codes menu. On the 3DS, due to the Spy Codes being replaced with StreetPass, he is unlocked by winning the Oil Cup in C.H.R.O.M.E. mode. He is equipped with the ability to Ram, other characters with this ability include Raoul ÇaRoule, Max Schnell, Mater, Professor Z and Acer.
Grem, along with Lightning, Finn, Mater, Holley, Professor Z and Acer, doesn’t appear as an opponent in the single race mode of C.H.R.O.M.E.. However, he does appear as an opponent in both the Lemon Cup and the Oil Cup.
Grem is also one of 2 playable characters in the game to not have any additional paint job themes, the other being Acer.
General information
Physical description
Grem is painted orange, with black hockey stripes. He has gray mirrors and headlights, as well as a black grille.
Grem is modeled after a 1974 AMC Gremlin. He has a top speed of 91 mph, and a 0-60 of 17 seconds. His engine is a 232 CID inline-6 with a one-barrel carburetor and 90 horsepower.
His license plate reads WREKD, short for "wrecked". It is the same of Tyler Gremlin's.
His tires read Rollingstop.
Personality and traits
Much like the other Lemons, Grem is rude, ruthless and sadistic, the result of years of being mocked by other cars for his design and weak performance. Between him and his partner-in-crime, Acer, Grem is smarter and way more competent, as he's the one Professor Z puts in charge of operating the electromagnetic pulse emitter instead of Acer.
Weaponry and Gadgets
- Missile Launcher: In the airport escape, Grem reveals a missile launcher on his right side. He launches it at Finn McMissile, but Finn launches a missile at that one, and they take out each other. He uses it that one time in the film.
- Deployable Machine Gun: Located on the opposite side of the missile launcher. In an attempt to get Lightning McQueen and Mater in London, he and Acer got out their weapons revealing Grem has a machine gun on his left side.

Acer is Grem's partner-in-crime and best,He with Acer had an entire organization of allies that assisted Professor Z and Miles Axlerod in making sure that cars would hate Allinol and would switch back to regular fuel.
in the film, Professor Zündapp is Grem's boss and the second-in comand of the Lemons, likewise Grem is loyal to him and the main henchcar, excepting when he with Acer didn't kill Lightning McQueen in London with the EMP Weapon.

- Grem is a dented, rusty orange AMC Gremlin. After years of being dismissed for his design, even being called a "lemon," Grem has a big chip on his fender that has led him to the underworld of international espionage. As a henchman for a villainous boss Professor Zündapp, Grem and his partner-in-crime Acer are trying to sabotage the World Grand Prix and the famous race cars competing in it. When Grem and Acer mistake Mater for an American agent with important top-secret information, the ruthless lemons set out on a round-the-globe chase to stop Mater from foiling their evil scheme.[1]

- On his Disney Store die-cast model, Grem is simply named "Gremlin", implying that it is possible he had a simpler name in concept.
- He, along with Acer, are the first two lemons to be seen in Cars 2.
- There was a costume of him on The World of Cars Online, which the player could get from Ramone's House of Body Art.
- In the Cars 2 magazine with the 56-page Cars 2 movie comic, when Holley stops him and Acer from getting Lightning and Mater, instead of ending up in "Ye Left Turn Inn," they landed in a garbage truck.
- Grem, along with Acer, Professor Z, Miles Axlerod and Victor Hugo, are playable in Cars 2: The Video Game, even though they are villains. However, it could be that they are part of the simulation.
- Grem's LEGO depicts him in red livery. For some reason, it shows him with brown eyes instead of green eyes like in his other appearances.
- Grem's name originates from the first four letters of the name "Gremlin".
