Sal Machiani is a three-wheeled delivery car. He is painted completely yellow, and is a 1967 Piaggio Ape.
History
According to the promotional megaposter and the 2011-2012 and 2014 "Allinol Blowout'’ series 2-packs, Sal was supposed to appear in Cars 2, Sal possibly makes an extremely two brief cameos, strolling through Porto Corsa when he sees Nigel Gearsley and Carla Veloso's crash and watching Shawn Krash kicking a can of Allinol out of anger in protest of it. Later he is possibly seen as Finn McMissile drives through a crossroad in front of another car while trying to stop Grem and Acer's plan. When Finn jumps over a road, Sal is seen in the background.

- "Sal is about as gentle and old-world as they come. A busy little bee, he scoots around, up the steep hills of the Tuscan town of Carsoli, Italy, with his sweet-smelling exhaust trailing behind. More than making up for his small size by being an ape-of-all-trades, Sal can be found hard at work on any given day. But most evenings he's at the local cafe, shipping regional olio with his amici, and bidding passing microcars, "Buona sera"."[1]

Trivia
- A promotional character poster refers to him as "Ape".
- Although Sal is intended to be a Cars 2 character, his exact fully yellow model does not appear in the film, as the rear portion of the vehicle seen in his supposed scene appears to be white rather than yellow. This is possibly an error made by Pixar, similar to Chief RPM’s miscoloring.
- However, Sal was released alongside Shawn Krash in the 2014 Allinol Blowout'’ series in a 2-pack, suggesting that they were intended to represent the cars from the same scene.
