Racer 65 is a Piston Cup racer who first appeared in the original Cars teaser trailer, sporting the Trunk Fresh sponsor decals worn by #34 Dirkson D'Agostino in the final film. Unlike the other early drivers, remnants of his design made their way into official material: #65 appears on the Motor City scoring pylon with no corresponding driver, while the character himself appears as an AI driver in the licensed game, Cars: In the Fast Lane.
History
In the teaser trailer, the white-and-purple stock car is competing at the Radiator Springs Speedway. During a pit stop, mechanics swap his tires and #65 races back out onto the track – The shot composition closely mirrors that of counterpart Dirkson D'Agostino's in the final film opening sequence.
