Cars 2: World Grand Prix and Race
Cars 2 AppMATes was a mobile toys-to-life game developed by Spin Master, exclusively for the Apple iPad. The game was promoted as a digital play mat, and its slogan was to "explore the world of Radiator Springs" with racing and other mini games. The game was released on September 29, 2011, the game got removed from the App Store in 2018, but if the user has the game in their app library and an iPad running iOS 10.3.4 or below, they can still download and play it.

Gameplay
In Cars 2 AppMATes players were able to visit,race and do challenges Radiator Springs by using a AppMATes toy, players did these activites to earn hubcaps, and use these hubcaps to purchase new gear ,tires, horns and play Carcade games. If the player didn’t have a toy, they could have taken “Paper Lightning” for a free test drive. The player could also do the same thing in Tokyo, if he paid the in-app purchase.

Version 1.0.1
Version 1.0.1 was the launch version of the game. Version 1.0.1 released September 29, 2011 for iPad 2 exclusively, this version also only supported English.
Version 1.0.3
Version 1.0.3 featured Francesco and Shu Todoroki as playable characters, with the release of this version. This version supported all iPad devices, Radiator Springs also got a Halloween update. Version 1.0.3 got launched on October 21, 2011.
Version 1.1.0
Version 1.1.0 gave the game a new race track, and two new games in the Carcade building, Speed Attack and Wheels of Fury! It is also known that couple new gears got added to the game. Version 1.1.0 got launched on November 18, 2011.
Version 1.1.1
Version 1.1.1 gave Radiator Springs winter theme map update and brought the game a new feature, digital toys. Fillmore, Luigi, Mater and Lightning McQueen were now available through in-app purchase as playable characters. Version 1.1.1 got launched on December 1, 2011.
Version 1.1.2
Version 1.1.2 brought the game 5 new playable characters, Holley Shiftwell, Finn McMissile, Francesco Bernoulli, Shu Todoroki and Rod Redline were now available through in-app purchase as playable characters. Version 1.1.2 got launched on January 21, 2012.
Version 2.0.0
Version 2.0.0 got released on April 4, 2012, this was the biggest update the game had. This update brought a new open world map, 3 new minigames, 7 new races, 13 new missions and activities, 35 new gadgets and upgrades and 3 New Digital Toys in the Digital Store, AppMATes also now supported high resolution graphics on the new iPad (iPad 3) with this update, It is unknown if the German and French language support was added in this update, it is known that they weren't in the game when it launched with 1.0.1
Version 2.1.0
Version 2.1.0 released August 28, 2013, the update had some minor bug fixes and optimized the performance, this version now required IOS 6.0 or later, in the appstore page, it said that the games size was 357 MB in version 2.1.0, this was the last update the game had.
Characters
An individual figure, called an AppMATe, is similar in scale to a Mini Adventures vehicle by Mattel. In the US, they have metal buttons. In the UK, they have magnetic studs.

Trivia
- The Luxo Ball makes an appearance in Radiator Springs.
- Even though Francesco and Shu came out in 2011, they weren't advertised as a part of the line till 2012.
- The app marks Okuni's first speaking role.
- Shu Todoroki does not speak if he is the player's opponent during races.
- After the tutorial is finished, Rod Redline was never seen in the game again as a NPC.
- Game had 3 different save files that you could play.
- There were also left handed controls available in settings.
- Ramone had 7 different paintjobs that would change each time you open the game.
- Radiator Springs Curious is placed falsely in the game, mostly it is made so that players can see the front of the building and not just the side of it.
- The road that leads to Tailfin Pass is replaced by a lake.
- Like The World of Cars Online, this game also called its development team "Pit Crew"
- AppMATes was Disney's first attempt at making a toys to life game.
- AppMATes was the first Cars game that allowed players to free roam Tokyo.
- AppMATes was the last open-world cars game to come out.
