Tom, later Race Official Tom, is a male Remirunabout Orbit[1] who works as a race official for the Piston Cup Racing Series. Despite his authoritative position, Tom enjoys a good laugh, and occasionally pulls pranks while working.
History
In Cars, after Lightning McQueen, Chick Hicks, and The King finish the Dinoco 400 at the exact same time, Tom and other race officials continually rewind the tapes in an attempt to determine a winner. They are unable to, and a tie-breaker race is set to be held at the Los Angeles International Speedway to determine the 2005 champion.
