Daniel "Danny" Swervez is a Piston Cup Next-Gen of the 2017 Race Car SB-4 model who appeared in Cars 3, racing for Octane Gain. He replaced Bobby Swift in the end of the 2016 season.
History
In Cars 3, Danny entered the 2016 Piston Cup season racing for Octane Gain, as a replacement for Bobby Swift. In the Los Angeles 500, he competes against the likes of Lightning McQueen, Chase Racelott, Jackson Storm and many others, proving himself a worthy opponent. For most of the race, he is seen battling McQueen and Chase. Before McQueen crashes, he and Chase Racelott pass him. After the restart, he ends placing second behind Jackson. During the Florida 500, the starting race of the 2017 Piston Cup Season, he starts second behind Storm, and remains in second for most of the race. As Danny is near the front of the pack, he is not affected by the crash by Cam Spinner. He restarts in third place behind Jackson Storm and H.J. Hollis. When the race is almost over, Danny is still in second. When Jackson becomes nervous of Cruz Ramirez ascending up to 3rd, he slows down to try to discourage her, allowing Danny to take the lead. Danny looks at Jackson, confused, but then focuses on the race. Jackson quickly retakes the lead after getting into Cruz's head. When Lightning McQueen cheers up Cruz, Danny is quickly passed by Cruz and he is seen behind Storm and Cruz when Cruz flips over Storm and he finishes third. After the end of the Florida 500, he congratulates Cruz on her win.

Trivia
- Danny's name is a pun on his voice actor, Daniel Suárez, who is a professional NASCAR driver that once won the championship in the Xfinity Series. Suárez's story is quite similar to his fictional counterpart, as both have replaced previous racers (Suárez took over the #19 car when Carl Edwards retired during the post-season of the 2016 season).
- In the Danish dub of Cars 3, he's named after racing driver Kevin Magnussen.
- He is the only Next-Gen racer voiced by a NASCAR driver that was not interviewed about Lightning McQueen not having arrived at the Florida International Super Speedway yet in Cars 3.
- He is the second known Piston Cup racer to not be American, the first being Haul Inngas.
- Due to the NASCAR crossover, his number is now #99, due to the fact that, in real life, his voice actor now drives the #99 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing Team.
- In the Latin American version of Cars 3, his name is Carros "Carlos" Giron.
