The Black Forest (German: Schwarzwald) is a forested mountain range in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in southwestern Germany. Intended to host the fourth World Grand Prix race in Cars 2, the location and scenes were scrapped from the film—however, the events are retained in some adaptations of the story, such as the Nintendo DS version of Cars 2: The Video Game. The 2014 storybook Rally to the Finish! incorporates similar ideas into a plot set after the film, in which native racer Max Schnell invites Lightning McQueen and friends to partake in a Black Forest Rally Race Invitational. In legend, this place is home to the Waldgeister Monster.
