Captain Tom Stinger is a forklift that serves in the United States Navy with the rank of captain. He is the executive officer and second in command at the USS Flysenhower aircraft carrier.
History
In Planes, Tom is one of the many navy members that helps Dusty Crophopper after he got lost on the Pacific Ocean while competing in the Wings Around the Globe. He helped Dusty perform an emergency landing on the USS Flysenhower aircraft. While in the radar room, Stinger had ordered the crew to prepper the landing lane and deploy the barricade to catch him.
Physical description
Stinger is a forklift with a beige livery. He wears a blue hat that says "USS Flysenhower" on it and wears brown glasses.

Meet the Planes
- Captain Tom Stinger is the executive officer (XO), and second in command, of the Flysenhower. He commands all the planes and helicopters assigned to the ship, including Echo and Bravo. Stinger spends most of his time managing flight operations from the radar room of the Flysenhower, where he can get a complete picture of both the deck operations and the airspace around his command.
Trivia
- He was named and designed after Tom "Stinger" Jordan, a character from the Top Gun, a 1986 action drama film. In the movie, he was a commander of the USS Enterprise, a United States nuclear aircraft carrier.
- He is voiced by Stacy Keach in both English and Polish.
- In Polish dubbing version of Planes, Stinger was voiced by Stacy Keach as a guess cameo. He also had voiced Skipper Riley in the original version of the film. The actor is married to Polish-speaking actress, Małgosia Tomassi and in 2015 had received the Polish citizenship.
