Africa is one of the continents on Earth. A travel brochure for Africa is seen in the Cars 2 credits, and the continent is also shown in Planes on the Wings Around the Globe course map.
Ethiopia is a landlocked country seen on a map in Planes and indirectly mentioned in Cars 2: Miles Axlerod is stated as the only car to have crossed Abyssinian Desert.
Nigeria is a West African country mentioned in Cars 2. Crime lord Tubbs Pacer is wanted there, as revealed by C.H.R.O.M.E. analysis while Mater is undercover.

Sleep Well is a motel in California. It is seen being a shelter for Mack while Lightning McQueen watches the news having been abandoned by Cruz Ramirez in Cars 3. The graphic art references Pixar's Toy Story of Terror! short.
