The Cozy Cone Motel is a traffic cone-themed lodging facility located in Downtown Radiator Springs. Owned, operated, and restored by town lawyer and attorney Sally Carrera, the property lends hospitality in any of nine, independent single-vehicle rooms, all of which are shaped like giant traffic cones and form a semi-circle around the office and service area. A large sign towers over Main Street, advertising to newcomers and displaying the current vacancy status. According to Lightning McQueen, Sally only lights up the sign if expecting customers.[1]

Interior

A glimpse of the interior in Cars (2006).

Sally's one-room office building contains a simple, wooden desk, preceded by a small welcome mat and protected by a sturdy bumper guard. A desktop fan quells the desert heat, while a cone lamp illuminates her logbook and workspace; Cone-shaped cactus pots nurse prickly plants off to her side, the walls lined with decorative shelving. In the first cone, which doubles as the first room, guests are greeted by a delightful array of cone-themed decor. Cone-shaped pictures adorn the walls, showcasing charming cone-shaped buildings. The wallpaper features a whimsical cone design, adding to the motel's cozy atmosphere. Curb cones and cone-shaped objects pepper the room, infusing it with character and charm. And to ensure guests rise and shine on time, a cone alarm clock sits proudly on the bedside table, promising a punctual start to the day.

Trivia

  • The Cozy Cone Motel's design is based on the two Wigwam Motels along Route 66, in Holbrook, Arizona and Rialto, California. These were once two out of seven built motels, with individual cabins shaped like teepees. Three Wigwam Motels remain; the third (and oldest) is in Cave City, Kentucky, far from Route 66. The recently restored Tee Pee Motel in Wharton, Texas, south of Houston, is of similar design but unrelated. The name "Cozy Cone" was inspired by the Cozy Dog Drive-In of Springfield, Illinois, which lays claim to being birthplace of the corn dog.
  • Initially the original name of the building was: "Sally's Circle Inn" according to American Car.
