Race car was an virtual avatar created and controlled by the player in The World of Cars Online. They could be customized having an option to chose their gender, eye and paint color, body shape, racing number and name created from already prepared samples.

In the game's promotion, example instances of customized player characters have featured on official merchandise and game materials.

• Speedy McMuffler, Princess Diamondlane, Dizzy U-Turn, Cabby Darebreak, Happy Hybridsmile, and Blue Turbobird each featured on a set of collectible Disney Pins, given out at the Cars Land opening in 2012.
