Oktoberfest

The opening party, which was held in Tokyo was originally going to be a party in Germany, in the Munich Museum, from which Mater would then make his way to a nearby Oktoberfest party. Mater meets 2 other tow trucks, and they try out several different attractions. Meanwhile, a secret agent disguised as a waiter is approaching the party while fleeing the lemons. The lemons corner the agent, and beat him up, before he breaks free and throws smoke pellets to escape. There was also going to be a scene where Mater rides a haunted house amusement park ride and comes across the agent, who dies from his injuries. Before he dies, the agent tells Mater to tell Finn McMissile "nothing", but Mater thinks its all part of the attraction and ignores him. It is then revealed that the lemons have been listening to Mater and the agent's conversation.
Trivia
- At one point Mater yells out "shoot, I'm wearing Mater-hosen!" this line would be reused in the final film, but in the context of Mater trying out his new disguises
- It is unknown why the agent tells Mater to tell Finn "nothing" potential reasons include:
- The agent said this because the lemons saw Mater receive the device on his undercarriage and he didn't want Mater to make contact with Finn in order to prevent the lemons capturing Finn
- The agent didn't trust Finn, though we have no reason to believe this
- "Nothing" is code for something like a location, or to confirm an operation is/isn't occurring
- "Nothing" means something to Finn that we wouldn't expect, eg, 'do nothing until London race'
- Celine Dephare is displayed in the "Freak Auto Show" segment of the Oktoberfest party, she would later be reused for the Paris Market scene
- It is unknown why Mater made his way to this party alone, it's possible that, similar to the final film, he embarrassed McQueen and wanted to get out of the way
- Oktoberfest is sequentially the 3rd deleted scene of Cars 2
