Mater Sheds Some Light At Cars Land[citation needed] was the first ever Cars Land teaser spot, premiered on ABC on May 9, 2012. It aired to promote the June 15 opening at Disney California Adventure.

In the pitch dark, Mater and Lightning McQueen are discussing their new "top secret" project through whispers. Mater excitedly spots a button and presses it, activating the neon lights of Radiator Springs to reveal the fully complete Cars Land. are looking forward to welcoming the first guests to Cars Land. We can see Mater turning the park's lights on accidentally revealing its looks before its opening. Following an out-of-universe voiceover, McQueen frantically urges Mater to turn them back off, and he does, promising "nobody saw that... I think."
