Gasoline & Matches Co.
Gasoline & Matches Co., informally the "old gasoline and match factory", was allegedly a brick, two-story building located at 1209 Carmichael Way, near Downtown Radiator Springs.[1] Perhaps due to its activities, the structure caught fire and quickly became engulfed in smoke and flames, as panicked crowd of onlookers formed. The Rescue Squad Mater emergency services team responded to calls, with leader and fire truck Mater dousing the flames and rescuing trapped pedestrian Lightning McQueen.
Behind the scenes
The factory scene served as basis for a Mattel track set, representing the Rescue Squad Mater short. A section of the front face serves as a play piece, fastened with a set-and-release mechanism so a car traveling on the perpendicular downramp can "free" another, mimicking Mater's rescue of McQueen. The stylized box art was created by package designer Ryan Gleason.[2]
