The 2012–2013 draft of Cars 3 is an earliest version of the film that was reportedly developed before the story was reworked into the final 2017 release.[1]
Plot
The only known information comes from Michael Wallis, historian, Route 66 consultant for the Cars franchise, and the voice of Sheriff. In a 2013 radio interview[2], Wallis stated that the film would return to Radiator Springs, revisit Route 66, and explore U.S. Route 99, a historic highway that he described as more isolated than Route 66.[3]

- Aside from Wallis' comments, no information about this draft has surfaced. No plot details, concept art, storyboards, screenplay pages, or other production materials have been publicly released, making it one of the least documented early versions of Cars 3.
